What if My Mortgage is Being Foreclosed?

If you happen to run into problems such as late payments with your lender, contact them. Preferably in person, but all lenders are required by law to have a toll-free number.

Most lenders should be able to work with these problems. The main thing is to contact them as soon as problems appear, not after you've missed 4 or 5 payments.

If in the unfavorable event that your home does foreclose, you will be hard pressed to get a mortgage for a very long time. If you act quickly, you can contact a real estate agent, get your home on the market, sell it cheap for a quick sale, and perhaps save your credit history. Contact your real estate agent or lawyer as soon as possible after you find out about the foreclosure.
